SmithDavidson Gallery returns to KunstRAI Art Amsterdam, celebrating its 40th anniversary in 2025. SmithDavidson Gallery presents a curated selection of contemporary and photographic art alongside artworks by renowned Australian First Nations artists.
Internationally acclaimed photographers including Marc Lagrange, Vincent Lagrange, Terry O’Neill, Janette Beckman, Marie Cecile Thijs, and Ingo Arndt present their unique approaches to portraiture and storytelling through the lens.
In contemporary painting and sculpture, SmithDavidson Gallery showcases Zhuang Hong Yi, Matthijs Scholten, Diana Korn and Pepe Valenti.
Pepe Valenti’s most recent work “The Portal” standing at 2 meters tall, will be featured at the KunstRAI Statue Square, located at the entrance of the fair.
This year also marks the KunstRAI debut of Dutch artist Hanne Arends.
Known for her multidisciplinary approach and emotionally resonant work, Arends explores themes of identity, connection, and social dynamics. Her recent series Rebels features bold, playful glass sculptures that reflect on childhood, creativity, and the freedom to simply be. With a background from both Design Academy Eindhoven and Gerrit Rietveld Academie, her practice spans ceramics, sculpture, and installation, always grounded in craftsmanship and an intuitive, striking visual language.
In addition, SmithDavidson Gallery continues its commitment to bringing Australian First Nations Art into conversation with global contemporary practices through works by leading First Nations artists including Freddie Timms, Emily Kam Kngwarray, Kudditji Kngwarray, and Tjawina Porter Nampitjinpa. Their work reflects deep cultural knowledge and storytelling traditions that are visually compelling and historically significant.
Through this energetic mix of international contemporary voices and Australian First Nations Art, the gallery creates a curated space for connection, contrast, and conversation, placing different narratives side by side while honoring each artist’s individual perspective.
