With Where Were You?, Hanne Arends presents a layered installation about memory, time, and the power of longing. The work refers to that single moment in the past when everything seemed effortlessly right, a time in which carefreeness and a sense of safety merged.
Arends explores the tension between the desire to relive that feeling and the impossibility of truly retrieving it. Rather than evoking melancholy, the work breathes softness and acceptance: an acknowledgment that what has passed finds its lasting beauty precisely in remembrance.
The installation consists of a monumental wall tapestry that forms a poetic dialogue between the viewer and the moment that once was.
