Following two months of travel through Mexico, Hanne Arends returns with a renewed perspective on the figures that inhabit her work. For the first time, multiple characters appear within a single composition, most notably in Three Friends.
The sense of collectivity she encountered in Mexican society, its openness, warmth, and shared presence, has left a lasting impression, subtly shifting her visual language. These paintings mark the beginning of a new body of work developed upon her return to Amsterdam. Further works from this series are forthcoming.
