This painting depicts a series of locations associated with Tjawina’s traditional homeland. The concentric circles represent sacred waterholes which are not only a reliable source of water but also significant ceremony sites used for the purpose of initiation. It is here that the senior women associated with the location referred to as “Punkilpirri” prepared for ceremonial rituals.

Please note that all Aboriginal Art is created from a so called ‘Birds Eye’ view.

This means that the paintings can be hung either horizontally as well as vertically.
